Rihanna and Drake fans got excited upon noticing the mysterious DrakeAndRihanna.com on Tuesday with a large countdown clock and Drake’s 6 God logo. But it’s too good to be true: A source from Drake’s camp confirmed to EW the website is fake.
Attention for the site picked up a couple days after Drake presented Rihanna with the Video Vanguard Award at the MTV VMAs on Sunday in an emotional speech.
“She succeeds by doing something which no one in this industry does, which is be herself,” he said. “She’s someone I’ve been in love with since I was 22 years old. She’s one of my best friends in the world. All my adult life I’ve looked up to her even though she’s younger than me.”
“All my success is not my own. It’s my family’s, it’s my fans’, it’s my country’s, it’s the Caribbean as a whole, it’s women, it’s black women,” Rihanna said with the trophy in hand. “So many people feel like their little piece is such a major part of this puzzle and I have to thank you guys for supporting me over and over.”
The two teamed up on the smash “Work” for Rihanna’s last record, Anti. The Director X-helmed video was up for Best Female Video and Best Collaboration Video at the VMAs, but lost to Beyoncé and Fifth Harmony/Ty Dolla $ign, respectively.
