Aaron Lewis has released the music video for his song “That Ain’t Country.” As with the song’s lyrics, the clip serves as an homage to traditional country’s sounds, lyrics and artists.
The “That Ain’t Country” video begins with Lewis and his band taking a shot before setting up shop outside Ernest Tubb Record Shop, located on Broadway in Nashville, and performing for a crowd. Throughout the clip, viewers follow a younger couple as they browse through the record shop’s bins and dance to Lewis’ show and inside the darkened store. “That Ain’t Country” is the first single from Lewis’ new album Sinner, but while the studio version of “That Ain’t Country” is new, the tune itself isn’t: Lewis debuted the song back in September of 2014, at a concert in Davie, Fla., on the very same day that he penned it.
Lewis caused a stir recently when, while onstage in Colorado, he called out a few of country music’s biggest names for “choking all the life out of country music.” The singer later clarified that he “was just trying to play to the crowd I was playing in front of,” explaining, “Maybe I didn’t need to call out anybody’s names, but I stand by my statement.”
“This Ain’t Country,” along with the rest of Sinner, is available for purchase via Amazon and iTunes.
