“Forever Country.” one of the biggest music events ever in the history of the country genre, debuted at the top of the Billboard Hot Country Chart this week.
In celebration of the 50th anniversary of the CMA Awards, 30 CMA Award-winning country artists got together to create a medley song of John Denver’s “Take Me Home, Country Roads,” Willie Nelson’s “On the Road Again,” and Dolly Parton’s “I Will Always Love You.” The song went to No. 1 in its first week on country radio, which is only the third song to debut at that position in the chart’s history.
The music video, which also features every artist who gave their voice to the track, blew up on the Internet from the minute it was posted. Going viral within just hours, the video showcased that no matter where you are in the world or where you go, country music will always be like home to its fans. In the first five days, the star-filled clip garnered 31 million views worldwide and was posted throughout social media like wildfire.
The single, “Forever Country,” was produced by CMA Award-winner Shane McAnally and the video for the song was directed by Grammy Award-winner, Joseph Kahn. Other content from the “Forever Country” project will continue to roll out to fans throughout the weeks leading up to this year’s awards show.
The 50th Annual CMA Awards will air live from Nashville’s own Bridgestone Arena on Wednesday, November 2 at 8 p.m. ET on ABC.
