WBC light heavyweight champion Adonis Stevenson recently had the opportunity to get together with retired former five division world champion Floyd Mayweather Jr. at the Beach Club in Pointe-Calumet, Quebec, Canada.

The two fighters are both advised by Al Haymon. Mayweather retired last September after a decision win over Andre Berto at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.

Stevenson (28-1, 23KOs) retained his title on July 29th with a fourth round knockout of Thomas Williams Jr. at Centre Videotron.

Stevenson said he received some career pointers from Mayweather, who earned a record shattering $300 million from last May's pay-per-view fight with Manny Pacquiao.

"He's a living legend. This is a guy who is extremely intelligent. He has a lot to teach me. It is a privilege to speak with him because he's had 19 years in boxing, and there's a lot of stuff he knows I do not know yet. Certain I am going to listen to his advice. I'm learning from him. I'm like a child, I learn all the time, " said Stevenson in an interview with TVA Sports.

Up next for Stevenson is a likely mandatory defense against Eleider Alvarez (20-0, 10KOs) in the fall. Alvarez became the mandatory challenger last year with a close points win over Isaac Chilemba. He appeared on the Stevenson-Williams undercard and won a ten round unanimous decision over late replacement Robbie Berridge, who stepped in for the injured former world champion Chad Dawson.
