Kevin Hart announces he's running Hood to Coast - KATU

PORTLAND, Ore. -- Comedian Kevin Hart announced Friday he's running Hood to Coast in a video posted to Facebook.

Hart, who has been leading Nike+ run groups nationwide, joked he was running "through the hood."

"For people that don't understand what the Hood to Coast is, Hood to Coast is a run through the hood," Hart said in a "news conference."

Someone in the audience then explains to him the relay race begins on Mount Hood, a potentially active volcano.

"I'm not worried!" he said. "These Nikes are 110 percent lava-proof."

He's then asked if he's ready to sleep in a van with his entire team.

"My mother told me never get in a van with nobody. Next thing I know, you'll be telling me I gotta go to the bathroom outside!"

Hood to Coast, a 200-mile relay race, begins Friday, Aug. 26 at Mount Hood and ends in Seaside.
