It’s been two years since Rihanna graced the cover of W Magazine, and she’s back with a vengeance for the fashion pub’s September 2016 issue. Today (August 9), she shared one of the images from the stunning apocalyptic photo shoot.

In the photo, Rihanna wears the striking makeup from the magazine’s cover, but dons a much higher—and sharper—crown. In the scene, which shows the world burning in the background while she keeps three male models on a tight leash, Rihanna wears a revealing one-piece bathing suit, thigh-high black leather heels and a puffy gold metallic coat to lend the dystopian moment a dramatic, royal flare.
On the cover, the singer looks straight out of a futuristic kingdom with her intricately carved tiara and makeup blending jewels with bright, bold colors like red, gold and silver. The magazine said about the issue, “In a post-apocalyptic wasteland, Rihanna is our Furiosa,” referencing the character Charlize Theron played in Mad Max: Fury Road.
It looks like she’s getting a head start on her new role in the sci-fi film Valerian and The City of a Thousand Planets. In that project, she plays an alien exotic dancer, and knowing Rihanna she’s going to bring all sorts of fashionable glam to the role.
