Fresh off of getting his star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, Kevin Hart came back to Philly to promote and screen his latest stand-up film, What Now?, which hits theaters this Friday.
Wednesday night at the UA Riverview Plaza, he strolled down the red carpet with his wife, Eniko Parrish. And he was ready to talk about his team — as well as some off-the-field beefing.
"It's exciting to see the Eagles finally jump off to a fast start," he said. "To think the Eagles would be undefeated at one point, then actually suffer a loss and not feel bad about it, is news that I would have never believed."
Hart says he's "flying with the Birds" and looks forward to not only a competitive season, but a great playoff season. But he's not getting his hopes too high.
"I'm not the Philadelphia fan that goes crazy and says, 'It's the Super Bowl!'" he said with a laugh. "I've been that guy, and I've been hurt. I don't wanna be that guy this time."
Now that Hart is back on his home turf, he also weighed in on the beef between his fellow Philly brothers Meek Mill and Beanie Sigel.
"Meek and Beans are both good friends of mine," he said. "I've known them both for a very long time. Being that I am from Philadelphia, I would never want to be a person putting negative energy into my city. I know these two men are grown. and it'll eventually work out."
Hart says he's confident that that two are smart enough to handle the squabble correctly. "These are two men who are representatives of this city," he said, "and they both know that."
Still, though, the comic film star's concerned about how Philly handles it.
"We need to make sure our city is smart enough not to promote the negativity," he said. "We should urge those brothers to mesh it, get it over with, move on, and get back to making good music."
