Melania Trump reportedly chose not to join her husband, Donald Trump, for a joint TV interview in the wake of his leaked tape scandal.
The Trump campaign suggested the couple should do a joint statement right after The Washington Post published the 2005 video, but according to The New York Times, Melania was not interested.

Had she agreed, the statement would have recalled the joint appearance of Bill and Hillary Clinton back in 1992, after the president was accused of sexual assault by Gennifer Flowers.
Instead, Melania issued a written statement saying, "The words my husband used are unacceptable and offensive to me. This does not represent the man that I know. He has the heart and mind of a leader."
She added, "I hope people will accept his apology, as I have, and focus on the important issues facing our nation and the world."
Donald Trump also released a video apology and the issue is expected to come up again at the second presidential debate.
