When I was 13-year-old, I was playing travel soccer in Virginia and getting ready for high school. Nothing overly special. Do you know what Karamoko Dembele is doing? Playing soccer for Scottish giants Celtic. The 13-year-old soccer played made his debut with Celtic's U20 side last week. He is causing quite the buzz for seeing the pitch at such an early age and is quick and has a fantastic touch, already being called "the new Messi."
First, here is a look at what he has done at the youth level.
Super quick, lovely eye for goal and tons of potential.
Here's what you need to know about this kid, per Sky Sports.
1) His parents are from Ivory Coast and he attends school in Kirkintilloch, Scotland. He is of no relation to current Celtic senior team star Moussa Dembele.
2) He caused quite a bit of buzz this summer playing for Celtic's U15 team, playing in a cup in Ireland against teams like Barcelona and Lyon, apparently impressing big time by carving up defenses while being named player of the tournament.
3) He has a strong eye for goal and has been described as an explosive winger.
4) The club hopes he will progress at a "measured pace," but excitement is building as to when he will play for the senior squad. Celtic hasn't been shy when it comes to playing young players. They gave 16-year-old Jack Aitchison his debut with the senior side this year, and it seems like only a matter of time before Dembele debuts.
So, in the end we have another budding world star who is just 13 and already playing pro. It's hard to tell when he could potentially play for the senior team, but it isn't hard to tell why he is being compared to Messi. A superstar sooner rather than later?
Let's block ads! (Why?)
